Epic wedding at Lapstone Barn
Let’s get straight to the point, Zoe & Louis’ wedding day was epic. Maybe just the right amount of drunken by mostly just epic! Both bridesmaids and groomsmen were on form, committed to making sure Zoe & Louis’ wedding day was awesome. This was my first wedding at Lapstone Barn and I’d been super excited about it for months; the buildings, the grounds, the location – all amazing. Edit – I’ve been back lots since and it continues to be a wonderful place with a great team.
After delivering over 1000 images I did wonder how I’d manage to distil the images into a blogpost but I’ve just about managed it! The barn itself is hidden away on a country lane near Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire, not far from Broadway Tower. It consists of multiple indoor and outdoor spaces including a bridal prep area plus many acres of beautiful farmland which we most definitely made use of.
‘A massive thank you for being so great all day (even when I started drinking a feeeew too many margs) and the photos look amazing! It was so special to have you as our photographer!’
Zoe & Louis
Lapstone Barn wedding prep
In the morning I met Zoe getting ready with her bridesmaids ahead of her Lapstone Barn Wedding and walked in to what was basically a pre-wedding dance party – Sandie & Flo were there in charge of beautifying and it wasn’t long before Louis arrived on site with his chaps, suitably accessorised with hipflasks. The guests filtered into the main barn which was flooded with light and the ceremony began.
I knew there was going to be emotion during the ceremony (weddings are a bit like that) but the outpouring of happiness was something else. It continued throughout the day, the guests all so happy to be invited to see Zoe & Louis celebrate their big day. The bride and groom squad did a great job of cheerleading and getting as involved as possible in the celebrations. It’s so important you pick people that match your vibe.
Outdoor spaces at Lapstone Barn
Lapstone wears it’s outdoor areas well with perfect spaces for confetti by the main barn and views over the fields out on the lawn. They are well looked after and all areas are available throughout the day. After a few groups shots and some pictures with Zoe & Louis around Lapstone Barn, it was time for dinner, speeches and the outpouring of happy tears to continue. I particularly liked Zoe’s heckling of Louis’ speech! Check out the images below of the speeches.
The picture above with the smoke grenades worked brilliantly. The smoke bombs at Lapstone Barn were just the right size and the colours looked great alongside the outfits and the green of the grass. If you are using smoke bombs it’s definitely worth having a bucket nearby to carry them back as they stay hot for a long time.
After more time on the lawn with many, many cocktails, Zoe & Louis wowed their guests with an incredible first dance routine…and yes I’m talking lifts and spins! The first dance at Lapstone is often a big event as the sun sets just ourside the window and often casts golden hour quality light onto the dancefloor. A big shout out to Jo and her amazing team at Lapstone, Cotswold Wedding Co for the decor and Beth at Go Wild Flowers.
