Autumn Wedding at Matara

Matara Wedding Photography
I’m had a long association with the Matara Centre, probably longer than any other venue – and it’s still epic. The description on Matara’s website describes it as ‘…steeped in history and influenced by world travel’ which I love and really sums up the venue. Around every corner is something new to discover.
The ever changing nature of the Matara, whether it be the gardens or the internal spaces, keeps it fresh and exciting. Autum in particular looks incredible at Matara thanks to those beautiful acers. Josh & Joanne chose well!
The flowers and accent colours on Josh’s suit complemented the Autumn colours perfectly. I’m going to sound like a broken record if you’ve read any of my other blogs but the day was so much fun!
From the cameo by the cleaner in the morning to Josh dropping the rings when he collected them from his dog during the ceremony and them *almost* rolling into the pond to Josh’s high point of the day – deciding to take a seat on the grass under Joanne’s veil during the couple portraits, everything went as it should. When you as a couple get fully involved in your day, this is what your images will look like.
Matara Photography Review
Marcus was brilliant from start to finish. We met Marcus at an open day at our venue (Matara Centre) and we immediately got on with him and saw some of his photo’s from previous weddings. We booked him in not long after!
Me and my wife are certainly not naturals in front of the camera but Marcus made us feel at ease, particularly for the couple pictures.
The rest of the time, he blended in nicely with our guests – so much so you almost forget he’s taking pictures! We have recently got our photographs back and we love them! As is usually the case, the unposed natural shots are some of our favourites and really capture the mood of the day.
Thank you Marcus! – Josh & Joanne
Autumn wedding at Matara
The outdoor wedding ceremony in the cloisters at Matara was as beautiful as always. The guests sit underneath the covered area allowing an outdoor feel in an all weather area. It’s special. There were lots of smiles and as I mentioned earlier, a little drama! After some time in the courtyard for some confetti, the wedding guests moved out to the front of the main house for the drinks reception before Josh, Joanne and their close family headed to plant a tree in the grounds with some of their wedding party.
For every wedding that happens at Matara, the couple are gifted a tree to plant in one of the many copses around the meadow at Matara. Part of the fun of the day is trying to find the colourful bucket and spade! Your tree is then there, growing as you do as a couple and you are welcome to visit it as often as you wish to watch its progress. Some couples choose to add ribbons to their tree or tags with messages as a special dedication.
The speeches and first dance didn’t disappoint…you guessed it, lots more fun! Thanks Josh & Joanne for choosing me to photograph your wedding day… it’s time to let the images to the talking!
A big shout out to team Matara, Gemma Hull for beautifying skills in the morning, Jacqui for her dog-sitting skills and Richard for bringing the magic!
