Gloucestershire Wedding at Matara Centre

A rainy wedding day at Matara
Mark & Maddie were married at Matara. A beautiful, flexible, relaxed wedding venue near Tetbury. First let’s talk about the elephant in the room…the rain. It came early and stayed most of the day but, most importantly, it added to the day, rather than take away from it. The best thing to do when it rains is think beyond it. Don’t let it ruin your day by overwhelming you – look to your suppliers and your venue to help you work around it which is exactly what Mark and Maddie did.
The ceremony was in the rain, the groups, portraits, tree planting and even the fireworks…all in some sort of drizzle. When shooting a Gloucestershire wedding at Matara, the indoor spaces are great but the outdoor spaces are even better!
Maddie & Mark were truly amazing. The embraced it. Wellies appeared, as did a sea of brollies and smiles.
A beautiful Matara Centre outdoor ceremony
The girls’ morning was spent in the bridal suite at Matara while the chaps prepared for the celebrations across the road at Hunter’s Hall. It was a really fun morning. Lots of excited faces…especially when Jules of Wild & Co arrived with the flowers!
After Mark was given a proper hug by his best man, Maddie (and her bridesmaids) walked across the cobbles, brollies away for the moment towards cloisters to meet Mark who was waiting in the ‘mostly’ dry! The outdoor wedding ceremony was beautiful. Raindrops falling on the pond, fairy lights and happiness and laughter throughout and the odd droplet on my camera adding to the ambience of the images.
Matara Wedding Photography Review
“Thank you so much! These photos are excellent – you were amazing on the day so thank you for making it fun and enjoyable despite the weather. What a fantastic selection, it will be hard to whittle down for the album!” Maddie and Mark
Mark & Maddie left their ceremony, straight into an umbrella confetti aisle with all their guests, after which everyone headed to help the couple plant and dedicate their tree in the Matara grounds. In the rain. With wellies…perfect! The groups were fun, also drizzly! Of course there was plenty of time for portraits with Mark & Maddie in the ground of Matara whilst the guests headed in for dinner.
It really is the most beautiful space. Speeches followed before dinner and dancing. Mark & Maddie managed to persuade most of their guests to head back out once more for some unforgettable fireworks. It was a truly lovely day filled with happiness.
