Where is the wedding venue Barns and Yard?
Barns and Yard, at the foot of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire is a new wedding venue and a beautiful one. It’s obvious why it would be chosen by couples getting married in Worcestershire. The expansive venue includes 100 acres of private farmland, a lakeside ceremony spot and a beautifully rustic feel throughout.
The venue’s website describes it’s centrepiece as the ‘Grade II listed Threshing Barn showcasing original oak beams, exposed brickwork and centuries-old threshing machinery.’ It’s very rustic and I’m sure my heartrate slows a little when I enter the building. This was my first visit to the venue – it’s been open since 2019 – and I loved it so much this blogpost is a very long one. I make no apologies!
Getting ready in Malvern
The day started in Malvern where Aisha, her family and bridesmaids were getting ready. Her little boy was very much enjoying being the centre of attention while being looked after by everyone at once! It was definitely a hive of activity as the morning continued before Aisha headed to the venue to meet her groom. The man himself, Neale, was waiting by the lake ready to meet Aisha, dressed smart casual in a nice jacket, perfectly matched to the weather.
The location really was epic. The willow tree swaying in the breeze, guests seated on benches in an arc around the ornamental flower arch by The Flower Girls and the wooden jetty, ready to host the ceremony. The wedding party walked first from teh main building across the lawn. All smiles. Aisha walked across the lawns next to meet Neale and the ceremony began. The unique aspect enables all guests to have a great view.
A special ring bearer
After a certain very proud ring bearer did his thing, Neale & Aisha were married to the sound of birdsong by the lake then headed back up the aisle covered in handfuls of confetti, again with the backdrop of the lake. The drinks reception was perfect on the lawns with giant bubbles, lots of laughter and a bridesmaid pyramid! Yes, you read that correctly – one for the portfolio! The guests spread out across the site with some making use of the accommodation and a few heading straight for the bar.
The guests headed to dinner and Aisha & Neale headed off for some pictures in the woodland. The location provides a real mixture of backdrops. As well as the woodland, there is the brickwork of the buildings and the serenity of the lake. Each season brings a different feel.
This is always one of my favourite parts of the day. A chance for the couple to get away from everything and relax a little ahead of their wedding breakfast. The rest of the day was so much fun: honest and sincere speeches, a little cornfield wandering, ‘chefs’ on each table to carve the meat, a little cake cutting then a lot of dancing!
