A Mickleton Hills Farm Wedding – Sophie & Joe

‘It’s hard to quantify just how vital to our whole wedding experience Marcus proved to be. We were married on the 10th of October 2020, with Covid-19 restrictions aplenty. Through changes of plans, last-minute adjustments, back-and-forths over numbers and who could and couldn’t come to the wedding, Marcus was with us all the way, from our first contact with him up until the days immediately after the wedding. At all times we felt like valued, important clients, never forgotten and never sidelined. He has remained level-headed and professional throughout the current crisis, and really contributed to our feeling that despite numerous compromises, the wedding was still everything we wanted and needed it to be.

He adapted to every new challenge and supported us throughout the crazy few months leading up to the day, constantly coming up with different ways we could capture every precious moment, and even helping us work out the best running order for everything, which was key given the shortened timescales and restricted activities. He kept us on track during the day, making sure we were where we needed to be, becoming part-wedding planner as well!

He is a genuinely kind, friendly and thoughtful person who puts his clients’ priorities first, is so easy to work with – even for people who are very inexperienced in front of a camera such as ourselves – and it was a pleasure to get to know him over the past couple of years. The quality of his photographs is second-to-none. He is able to capture the little flashes of emotions; the exact movements and gestures that describe a person or a moment so accurately it’s as if you are literally re-living it; the moments that would otherwise eventually be forgotten were it not for his observant and quick-witted style.

His ability to somehow always be in the right place at exactly the right time is nothing short of miraculous! We will always cherish the photos from our wedding day, and from our engagement photo shoot (an absolute must-do!), and the truth and honesty with which they capture our relationship.

We simply cannot thank or recommend Marcus enough to anyone looking for natural, fun and relaxed wedding photographs. He himself is all those things and more. ‘

Sophie & Joe

Mickleton Hills Farm Wedding Photography – Where do I start!? The number of guests fell from over 100, to 30 then to 15. Something that didn’t ever drop though was the outright resilience of Sophie & Joe to not only get married but to have the BEST day ever! Spoiler alert – they did it! Sophie & Joe embraced their day wholeheartedly surrounded by their closest family and friends at Mickleton Hills Farm, an incredible wedding venue in the North Cotswolds near Chipping Campden run by the super lovely David & Sammy. The farm consists of two main barns with lots of surrounding land – I would encourage anyone to go check out their website!

I met Sophie in one of the bridal cottages at Mickleton Hills on the morning of the wedding being beautified by Charlotte Holder in charge of hair and Victoria Abbosh on make-up duties. After photographing the incredible florals by Dawn Keitley, I found Joe and his chaps getting ready also on site in a different cottage. It was great to be able to capture both the bride and groom.

The ceremony was amazing. I’ve never seen Grandparents walking down the aisle as flower girls before but I hope it becomes a 2021 trend! Sophie and her father appeared soon after and Joe & Sophie were married under the lights in the barn – by a registrar conducting her first ever ceremony. No pressure! She did an amazing job, filling the room with her warmth and Sophie & Joe celebrated their union with a kiss….and a cheer! As it had started rainingoutside, the drinks reception began indoors before the cloud cleared and the wedding party of 15 headed outside to the courtyard for speeches. These were amazing and the courtyard became the perfect location – even as the rain began again. Joe’s quick thinking provided everyone with brollies and gave me the opportunity to capture some really unique images.
After a few pictures, the guests headed in to an amazing four course meal by The Wild Oven and to cut the amazing cake by Claire at Cake Daydreams. After dinner we timed our short walk out to the driveway well enough to catch the epic evening light and a few more portraits.

There is no question that Sophie & Joe were two of the most excited people to become husband and wife that I have ever met and it was totally my pleasure to be able to capture their energy. Laughter and fun permeated the day. Their courage to embrace their journey through ever changing Government guidance, adapting each time and never allowing anything to get in the way of their happiness was incredible to witness.
