Kesh and Fiona’s Matara Centre Wedding – Part 2!

Ok, so the first post was a couple of days ago…and was quite long – click here if you missed it! After the Hindu ceremony and some group and individual photos, Fiona aimed straight for the house, to meetup with Natasha Buchanan, her make up artist, for the second look of the day… a gorgeous flowing white dress…complete with flower girl! Something I haven’t mentioned before about this wedding is the mix of Scottish dress from Fiona’s side of the family and Indian from Kesh’s. A phenomenal fusion!

Kingscote House @ The Matara Centre really is stunning both inside and out and I have to confess, I did get lost…twice! There’s even a friendly cat on hand to enhance the tulips! The ceremony itself was outdoors in the beautiful Matara courtyard. I particularly enjoyed photographing Fiona in her dress as she had kept the mehndi on her hands and her bangles, from the morning ceremony. Against the white dress this looked completely stunning!

After the ceremony, we headed out to the stone circle for a few groups photos then off to the wishing tree again to make the most of that dress! The evening celebrations were no less spectacular  – a little bit of Bhangra mixed in with the traditional first dance really set the evening off. The table styling for the event was pioneered by my favourite wedding planner – Jessie!

A big congratulations to both Fiona and Kesh on their marriage(s) and if you want to see even more images, visit the facebook page and share/like the images!

Enjoy,

Marcus

Stunning, as always!

Kesh and Fiona – An amazing wedding day at The Matara Centre – Part One!

What’s better than photographing an amazing wedding ceremony? Photographing two amazing ceremonies… in one day!

Kesh and Fiona didn’t just have one wedding… they were married twice, at The Matara Centre in Kingscote. In case you haven’t already seen Kesh and Fiona’s pre-wedding shoot at Matara and in the surrounding woods,  it’s right here.

The first ceremony was a riot of colour, a stunning Hindu ceremony starting with the guests dancing into the venue ahead of Kesh and an energetic garland ceremony, followed by a traditional Hindu marriage celebration.  Fiona’s was dressed beautifully in a bejewelled red wedding dress, having had mehndi applied to her hands the day before.

After lots of photos, a bite to eat and a walk in the woods, Fiona and Kesh did it all again, this time outside in the main space at Matara. As Fiona had to keep her wedding bangles on for 7 days after the Hindu ceremony, she still had them on for the civil ceremony, which looked incredible against her white dress and mehndi.

It really was a fabulous day, with a massive amount of dancing, colour, celebration and laughter – it couldn’t have happened to two nicer people! This was all very new to me but I truly hope this will be the first of many Hindu wedding ceremonies that I photograph.

There won’t be a massive wait for the civil ceremony blogpost…it will be appearing right here this time tomorrow!

In the meantime, there are a huge amount more images of the whole day here along with the opportunity to buy prints. Fiona and Kesh will be sending the password out very soon! Please also comment on the blogpost below – it would be great to hear from you if you were at the wedding – especially those that have flown back to Canada! There’s a few more images on facebook too.

Oliver and Gemma – A wedding at The Matara Centre

I love The Matara Centre – a spiritual haven hidden in the south of our county in Kingscote. I love it for its beautiful grounds and buildings, for the gorgeous route under the pagoda and past the pond, which the bride walks to meet her future husband, but mainly for the general ethos of the venue. Their website describes it as being built on ‘earth friendly principles.’ Being able to tailor your own bespoke civil ceremony around your beliefs and to plant a tree in the gardens on your wedding day fit that ethos perfectly.

Gemma and Oliver’s wedding was my first of two at The Matara Centre on this weekend so I was more than a little excited about what was to come. I met Gemma in the Zen Rooms off the courtyard where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids and her slightly overtired little boy! Gemma was one of the most relaxed brides I have ever had the pleasure to photograph – so much so that rather than hanging around waiting nervously for her wedding, Gemma took her son for a walk – pushchair, bridesmaids and all – around the grounds, through the pagoda and almost to the altar! The rain was doing it’s best to get involved so we found a nice spot under one side of the pagoda and I captured a few group shots. Cue mission: make the baby smile!

The ceremony itself was lovely, with baby Jack being carried down the aisle with Gemma, before taking centre stage in between mum and dad. The rain held off brilliantly which not only enabled the wedding to happen outdoors but also for us to take a walk to the stone circle for some pictures. There were plenty of opportunities for me to capture the guests enjoying themselves and to take some more personal photos of Gemma and Oliver in the grounds. I wasn’t with Gemma and Oliver long on the day but long enough to capture the most special parts of their day – I’ve included a small-ish selection of my favourite images below – Click here to view most of the images from the day.
